I haven't written anything in a while, and I feel for good reason. I have had a number of stresses in my life that all seemed to pile on all at once! I have had personal stresses, family stresses and to top it off a Ontario College Strike to deal with! That's right, I decided to go to college, meet new people, get an education!
But back to the strike. 6 weeks ago Ontario colleges decided to go on strike. Yup, in my first year of college, first semester and the educational system is once again screwing me over. Now a strike may not seem like a big deal, it might even seem kinda nice, like an extra long break. You would be very wrong. Let me fill you in on some of the issues that happened during this strike.
* I am not going to college, which means I am loosing class time, and money.
* I will not get that time or money back
* It has been so long that I probably have lost any information I learned
* I have no idea what is due and what is no longer due
* I have no idea how to do any of the work because I have had no instruction, so there is no way for me to be prepared to go back
And those are just personal issues regarding the strike, not even professional ones!
But I am back! I am back sitting class, learning about Business. Great. Nope, you're wrong again. Why? Because I am sitting in class stressing out about assignments that are due, about my marks, about failing, about what happens next. So what is this post about?
This blog post is simply me telling people my thoughts. I post them here because honestly I feel like for the past 6 weeks nobody has listened to what I have to say. The government, the colleges, the teachers. I am not the only one on this boat. I have read in an online Twitter poll that 90+% of college students want this semester cancelled. And I can't say that I disagree. If this semester gets cancelled then we could start fresh, not worry about failing or a heavier work load. I think that it is the right decision.
I found some posts that I enjoyed and thought everyone else might too.
